Christ has already won. Here is how the Church protects her children.
A word of peace
When you take a stand for Christ, you may face trials. Do not be afraid. Satan is a defeated enemy, and Jesus Christ is Lord. You and your family are not alone: you have the sacraments, the prayers of the Church, the protection of Our Lady, St. Michael and your Guardian Angels, and the prayers of Catholics around the world who have made the same pledge.
“Be sober and watch: because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, goeth about seeking whom he may devour. Whom resist ye, strong in faith.”
— 1 Peter 5:8–9
Daily prayers for your household
The Prayer to St. Michael, prayed together
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
A prayer of protection over your family
Lord Jesus Christ, I place my family under the protection of Your Most Precious Blood: my spouse, my children, and all who live in this home. Cover our minds, our hearts, our bodies and our home. Keep far from us every evil and every snare of the enemy, and draw us closer to You each day.
Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, spread your mantle over our family and keep us close to your Son. St. Joseph, guard our home as you guarded the Holy Family. St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Amen.
To the Guardian Angels of our family
Holy Guardian Angels of our family, God has entrusted each of us to your care. Watch over us today: at home, at work, at school and on the road. Light our path, guard us from harm, and lead us always closer to God. Amen.
Psalm 91 (90 in the Douay-Rheims)
He that dwelleth in the aid of the most High, shall abide under the protection of the God of Jacob. He shall say to the Lord: Thou art my protector, and my refuge: my God, in him will I trust.
For he hath given his angels charge over thee; to keep thee in all thy ways. In their hands they shall bear thee up: lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. Thou shalt walk upon the asp and the basilisk: and thou shalt trample under foot the lion and the dragon.
St. Joseph, Terror of Demons
From the Litany of St. Joseph:
St. Joseph, Protector of Holy Church, pray for us.
St. Joseph, Pillar of families, pray for us.
St. Joseph, Terror of demons, pray for us.
Consecrate your family
Consecrating your family to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary places your whole household in their care. It is simple to do at home:
- Choose a day. A Sunday or a feast of Our Lord or Our Lady is ideal. If you can, go to Confession and Mass beforehand.
- Prepare a place of honor. Set an image of the Sacred Heart and of Our Lady in a central room. Ask your priest to bless them.
- Gather everyone. Pray a decade of the Rosary together, then the consecration below.
- Renew it. Pray it again each year on the same day, and whenever your family faces a trial.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, we consecrate to You our family, our home and all that we have. Reign over us; be the King of our hearts and the center of our home. Immaculate Heart of Mary, we give ourselves to you; lead us always to your Son. Protect us from every evil, keep us faithful to the Church, and bring us all one day to Heaven. Amen.
Spiritual armor for the home
The Sacraments
Frequent Confession and Sunday Mass are the strongest protection there is. Receive them faithfully, as a family.
The Family Rosary
Even one decade a day, prayed together, brings Our Lady's protection into your home.
A Blessed Home
Ask your priest to bless your home. Most priests are glad to come, and it is a beautiful gift for your family.
Sacramentals
Keep holy water and blessed salt, a crucifix in each room, the St. Benedict medal, and the Brown Scapular (received through enrollment by a priest).
Sacramentals are not charms. They draw their power from the prayer of the Church and from our faith, and they prepare us to receive God's grace.
When to call your priest
If you or someone in your family experiences serious spiritual oppression, contact your pastor. This is not something to handle alone. Your priest can pray with you, offer the sacraments, and, if needed, involve the diocese, which has trained priests for these situations.
We pray for each other
Everyone who seals the pledge, and every city on our map, is remembered in the movement's prayers: at our Rosaries, our Holy Hours, and the Masses offered for this intention. You are never fighting alone.
